IS This for you

why do it

  • Ideal for serious students and aspiring teachers

  • Develop and uncover a self-practice that inspires you to teach

  • A Yoga Alliance Certified Teacher Training

Develop a stronger practice

This is a foundational training that will include understanding all of the elements of yoga. Each day there will be a long asana practice incorporating meditation and pranayama, focused around the theme of the day. In the afternoons, we will study the benefits and purpose of each yoga posture in depth, such as standing postures, inversions, backbends, twists, and forward bends. Learn how to read bodies and give safe effective hands-on adjustments. Understand how to use the props, modify postures, and make yoga accessible for everyone.

Learn to apply anatomy to help understand the effects of the postures and how to sequence them together to create a safe and effective class. We will dive into philosophy, the subtle body, and develop a pranayama and restorative practice that students can incorporate into their lives. By the end, you will be able to teach a yoga class, prepare an effective sequence, and gain confidence to teach and practice on your own. There are many benefits gained from practicing yoga, but a teacher training transforms! You will be more connected to yourself and have gained a connection to like minded yogis who share the same path of transformation.

This training is structured over a three month format to help you integrate the large amount of information in a slow and effective way. During the week you will have the option to practice with Joan LIVE on her zoom platform and with Dorota and Julien LIVE in person in Lausanne. The intention is for students to learn the foundations of the yoga practice and all of the elements that help you to embody the practice!

find your voice

This program will provide you with the tools and the knowledge to find your voice as a teacher and start teaching.

You will begin by learning to teach the basics as we explore styles from the Ashtanga and Iyengar Methods. Teachers leading this training have a background in meditation, Ayurveda, pranayama, and different therapeutic studies that will be applied to this training. This training aligns with the authentic traditions as instructed by Krishnamacharya and his students Sri K. Patthabi Jois and B.K.S. Iyengar. We will explore the details of alignments blended in with the dynamic breath based movements learning to create a vinyasa flow class that is accessible to everyone!

You will also deepen your understanding of philosophy, anatomy, subtle body, and chanting led by teachers who have over forty years of yoga practice together! This training will be team taught by Joan Hyman, Dorota Lecka and Julien Pidoux. This format will be led over three months, which will allow students time to integrate the information slowly. By the end of this training, you will have the knowledge to create a self sustainable practice and be inspired to teach! You don’t have to want to teach to take this training, just have the desire to deepen your understanding of yoga and yourself!

Julien Pidoux

adjunct teacher

I discovered yoga in 2003, a pivoting year in my life, and it was love at first sight. I had been looking for a physical activity for years to « feel better », and the asanas allowed me to make peace with my body (finally!). Step by step, I realized that yoga was also helping me in my sometimes stressful journalist life.
With the desire to go deeper, I took my first teacher training, back in 2013, with the amazing Joan Hyman :-) I then obtained my 500-RYT with Yogaworks under the supervision of Céline Antoine and Jennie Cohen. And I simultaneously followed many trainings and workshops to dig deeper. Among them, a training with the late Maty Ezraty, and two stays in San Francisco which allowed me to meet Annie Carpenter, with whom I continue on the path of learning.
In the meantime, I teach yoga, travel a lot, still work as a lifestyle and wellness journalist and fly each year to India, my happy place.
